I just bought a Nuvi 3592LM (Malaysia). I'm not good in IT products.....hope you guys could teach me.
I tried out many kind of methods to update my GPS but was not successful.
Today I took my elder brother's old version Garmin GPS (bought 5 yrs ago). His with AES camera voice alert and Visual alert.
Although I upload plenty of map Malsin POI 20140331, POI 20140305, etc.....my gps now became no sound and....plenty problem occured.....
Therefore I decided to Reset Factory Setting....and luckily I was able to do so....but I found out that some users said we need to back up our gmapsupp.img.....sadly.....i didn't.......will this affect anything?
Now what should I do? Any pros. would help me out and guide me. Will appreciate your help.
Another question, why I can't use wifi to update my garmin map? It shows "Error message - We can't find your map, please contact Garmin Customer Service." Why I can't update through wifi.....
Thank you
Hard reset does not remove maps that reside in Main Memory and the SD card of the Nuvi. It only restore default settings to the menu located in Tools section of the Nuvi.
If you are getting the message cannot find maps, you must have done something to the maps that reside in your Nuvi /system directory of the SD card /garmin and/or /map sub folder
Garmin seems to have problems with their server map downloading capabilities. You should contact them and question them on this.
Meanwhile you should switch to manual mode to update map.
Newbies should restrict themselves to update maps in SD card /garmin or /map. Tinkering of maps and data located in main memory should be left best to those who are literate in computer knowledge and some of the mechanics of the Garmin Nuvi. Garmin Nuvi is NOT forgiving to corruption of data which usually results in a "bricked" unit
As this is MfM forum, I shall restrict myself to offering advise that concerns Malfree Maps.
Download our latest map installer from this link :
viewtopic.php?p=123970#p123970Run the installer to generate the map file gmapsupp.img
Copy this map file gmapsupp.img into the SD card/garmin sub folder
Meanwhile do some housekeeping and remove the MsM Malsingmaps maps so as not to confuse you
See if this restores the sound in your Nuvi.
