I've some feedback for improvement if it is possible... i'm confuse with some of the speed alerts especially when it is located at multi level roads/expressways/intersections/overhead ramps. On which road direction is actually the speeds traps always in operation because the alarm always trigger no matter from wherever you are. By right it is usually located at certain route only. For example, when we joint in the expressway from Kajang tol toward KL intersection, the alarm was triggered, by right the speed trap is on the KL-SBN North/South E2 under the bridge, and not at the intersection road above (if I'm not mistaken).
This is unfortunately a peculiar Garmin quirk. I've checked the waypoint and it's placed exactly on the road (Psn Utara) and not at the intersection. Perhaps the waypoint is too close in proximity with the intersection therefore Garmin interprets this as a valid routable alert. I'm not sure whether this is attributed to the MFM map or your GPS device.
There are other possible causes - like misalignment of your Garmin device in relation to the map for instance. I had experienced a problem last month with my Nuvi 310 (I was using MFM v1.40) - the true location of my home (@ 5 meters' accuracy) was not reflected on my GPS screen. I did a reset to erase the satellite ephemeris and almanac data and all was fine after that.
I think, there are few more locations having the same problem; eg. Persiaran Utara/Persiaran Timur (N2 57.47 E101 42.80) at Putrajaya, and speed trap alert at E20 (Putrajaya-KL expressway) near Bkt Jalil. I believe the speed trap is for the road underneath the E20 and not on E20 because the speed limit tell 90km/h whereby speed limit on E20 for that area is 80km/h and no hiding area for PDRM to enforce speed trap, except via speed camera.
Brother Msports, can you verify this for certain or are you making personal assumptions?
It is very much appreciated if false alert(s) like this can be eliminated. It's will be good if the T&G reload lane one-way alert system can be apply here too.
The TnG alerting system is not speed dependent. Therefore I can place one trigger waypoint for the particular ramp or lane leading to the toll plazas. Non-tour guide POIs are bi-directional in nature - they will alert you from either direction as long as you are approaching the POI on the designated route. Tour Guide POIs, OTOH will alert you so long you are within the radius, even though you are not heading towards the POI but driving parallel with the POI.
Speed trap POIs are speed-dependent. Therefore it's much easier for maintenance of such POIs to have only one trigger point with a single wide, 1km radius than multiple 10-meter radius POIs scattered along the route. You can also have only one trigger point, but what's the use if you exceed the speed warning parameter
after you've passed that single trigger point?
At the moment I have not been able to establish exactly how non-Tour Guide POis work when they are placed close to multi-level intersections and ramps. But I do know they will trigger in the case of two lanes sited on top of one another - for example, the Sprint highway nearing Kg Kerinchi, KL.
