Like imantulen says, whether MFM should/wants to/can afford to take legal action is a secondary issue. However, adopting the Creative Commons license would mean that the project is backed by the lawyers of the Creative Commons Foundation, and the Malaysian chapter is even sponsored by the Multimedia Development Corporation. I think most bad guys would think twice before messing with Dr. M

I like this =P~

Will definitely try to arrange a meeting with jpatokal :D

I agree.. Creative Commons is actually a good legal way to protect your artwork or in this case, your 'artmaps' :)

Not too sure abt the part that MDEC is backing up on Creative Commons but I know that CC does have influence and jurisdiction in Malaysia especially in the multimedia industry.

Not sure about you guys. When I was young, my parents taught me not to take the belongings of others without permission. That's call stealing, they said. They did not add "but it is ok to steal if your lawyers say so".

Without advice from "a Malaysia's premier specialist Intellectual Property law firms", I suggest we simply use our own sense of right and wrong. No need to hide behind legality if we haven't done anything bad [-(

Normally, ppl steal for a rice bowl. If we share, there's nothing to steal unless they need more rice bowls or they are :ko:
