How To Join MFM & MSM Maps Using Mapsource

How To Join MFM & MSM Maps Using Mapsource.

With both MFM and MSM maps loadable from Mapsource it is no longer necessary to use Snedmap20 or Gmaptools to combine the maps. Here is how I perform the combination of these maps.

- Load both MFM v1.03 and MSM v2.30 maps into Mapsource. Note:- you must uninstall MSM v2.29 before installing v2.30.
- Select the following map tiles from MFM: (Using map tool : Tools>Map)

- Then select these map tiles from MSM: (Using map tool : Tools>Map)

- For those who has Jerome's map replace the MSM Johor & Sg tiles with Jereome's map (untested).
- Click on Map Set Name and un-check Autoname map set field.
- Type in your preferred Map Set Name > OK
- Connect your GPS and send to device (Transfer>Send to device)
- Eject your GPS and test your work.

For those with other maps or utilities (eg. Post code/POI HDB) that you need to combine with the maps you can use Gmaptool to do so. You can use my final version of the Gmaptool Join map program at MSM HERE. If your have extracted the post code/POI HDB.. etc files from the Gmapsupp.img remember to use sendmap20 to generate a gmapsupp.img for your files before combining with the combined map using Gmaptool.

after sending the gmapsupp.img file to my nuvi 200 & 60csx..the address search function is not working properly
some of the cities are not there..
until now still unsolved

Followed exactly the way to joint the MSM & MFM maps, transferred to my Nuvi 200 by Mapsource, every thing works just fine without any problem, the address search is also working.

I got the combined maps done up. Looks ok, but upon closer inspection 'I did a simulation from Selayang to Sg Long. The route seems to be 'flying' above the maps.

Another simulation from Selayang to Melaka yield the same results. It 'flies' across the map, but when it reaches Melaka, it follow proper routing.

Routing within KL boundaries is Ok though.

Seems like although both maps are shown in the same gmapsupp.img, but it can't coexist?

Brother,

You have overlapping maps when you chose all the map tiles from MSM. The maps you select should not be for the same location. Try selecting the maps as stated to see if it works. Hope this helps.. cheers!

I did a simulation from Sg Buloh Selangor to Air Krubong in Melaka and it looks good. I'm using Nuvi 300. Can you post the 2 coordinates for me to test? Thanks n cheers!

I chose the map tiles exactly as per your instruction above. 11 tiles in total. The cheras selangor search shows an empty screen and thus I'm unable to provide coordinates for you.

Having problems after follow Bro Moeyhc instruction on select respective tiles from MSM and MFM using Mapsource and send to my Nuvi760.

After that found address search for Cheras, Selangor having problems. Remove the MFM POI tiles and transfer again to my Nuvi760.

Wala Cheras, Selangor address search no more problem

I think the MFM POI tile caused the problem. Hopefully next release will solve this problem.
