I am using Omnia with FW IA5 flashed and GARMIN Mobile™ 10 軟體更新版本 5.00.30w. No lagging for me.

You may try to disable the Road POI. If still lagging, try downloading the Free Malaysia & Singapore GPS Map: MFM-Lite v1.53 , lite version.

OMNIA QUICK GPS FIX

1) download free total commander ce ( http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm )
2) after download & install , go to your device registry with total commander and see HKLM>> SYSTEM>>CURRENT CONTROL SET >> GPS INTERMEDIATE DRIVER
3) Change the following string values to nothing (don't delete them, just edit them and clear the value):
4) BEFORE CHANGE:

CurrentLogFile \GPSID_log.txt

OldLogFile \GPSID_log.bak

-----------------------------------
AFTER

CurrentLogFile

OldLogFile

5) Soft-reset your device
6) With File Explorer, go to My Device, and delete the two GPSID_log files you see, and the file named xtra. If you don't soft-reset, you will not be able to delete some of them.
7) if u dun see the file named xtra then nvm .just make sure u delete the two GPSID_log files after soft-reset .
8)Check again the registry setting. Sometimes in rare cases it may revert the settings back - but that's a general WM problem.
9) if it revert setting back again then go to step 3 untill u confirm the string value is nothing there , remember to soft reset after u clear the string values.
10) i do step 3 ,4 times untill i really confirmed the string valus nothing there

tis small hack can make your phone detect gps signal in 2 mins
Enjoy the GPS’s life!

When I activated enhance GPS in Singapore, Omnia acquired the GPS nearly instant. When in Thailand with enhance GPS disabled. I can get the fix from 30s to not more then 2 minutes as good as my BT-338 GPS receiver and Garmin 10x.

Just bought another compatable Omnia battery, 1500mAh($16.20) from Unicell Internation #02-70, Sim Lim Square. For those who looking for a spare battery, you can consider this.

can just use gmaptools to join all the maps you want.

Installed GMXT in My Storage. Then you can have 5 maps in Omnia.
Just an example:
A) My storage\Garmin folder:
1) gmapbmap.img(world base map)
2) gmapprom.img (China map)
3) gmapsupp.img (Thailand map)
4) gmapsup2.img (Australia map)
B) Storage Card\Garmin folder:
5) gmapsupp.img (MFM Sg & Malaysia map)

Installed GMXT 50030TW, MFM1.55 on both OMNIA and China WM5 PDA.
I encountered a very strange situation. whenever I turn from Tampenes Ave 10 into Kaki Bukit Via duct, 80% of chances GMXT Quit with send error msg to MS. I have to close all tasts and run GMXT again then it will continue without problem. Even Before I closed all tasks this problem sometime still happen. When I was in Thailand Travel for few hundred KM without this problem. Only at this "Bermuda Triangle" which kill GMXT.
Used my China wm5 with Garmin 10x and GMXT 50030TW, MFM1.55 also kill at this Bermuda Triangle.
Any one have this problem?

Postby tc323 » Wed May 13, 2009 5:13 pm

I am using the Garmin XT v5 on my HTC Diamond. I am not able to search for commercial buildings, some examples include Hougang Green & Thye hong Center.

Can anybody help advise?
