Make sure you remove these three voice files before installing: i) English_American_Jack.vpm, ii) English_Australian_Karen.vpm, & iii) English_British_Daniel.vpm .

Good luck.

---------------------------------
Manage to download v2.70 from link above. http://download.garmin.com/sg/download/%20...%20G_v270.exe. Thanks!

Any reason why v2.70 seem not up on the webpage?
Still showing v2.60 here:
http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/sg/support/SoftwareUpdate/-checked under my unit: 255w and some other units e.g. 205W.

Is there something wrong with it, crashed system (white screen prob) like another bro was facing :-? or garmin webmaster has just not yet updated the page. From what the bro above said, it seem to fix some bugs and have better satelite accuracy. Where is this info available? Google around but cant find any info on this version.

thks!!

Yes, the Nuvi 260W can be converted to use local SgMy Firmware to get JV. Yesterday had just updated the firmware from V2.60 to V2.70 in order to get better satellite accuracy as well as to overcome one or two bugs. Before conversion, I was thinking of buying the local SgMy 255W to get JV but decided to take the risk and tried out the conversion. It works well and I'm an extremely happy guy now. :-' =D> \:D/

Just follow closely the instructions given in this forum and you'll be fine. Not sure where you got your 260W from but I got mine from my recent trip to Australia and the original HWID is 0827 but after the conversion, it got changed to 0930, which is the ID for S'pore unit.

A word of caution though is that you MUST remember to remove your SD Card (if you have one plugged in to your set) and remember to remove the Voice & Text folder from your set's Garmin folder before you carry out the firmware conversion. Otherwise, you'll need to sweat bucketful of tears. [-(

Hi Danny,
Thank you for the inform. I updated the firmware as well. Now mine also have Junction View feature. But the HWID still the same no as before. I also manage to update to v2.70 without problem.

I bought mine at Subang Parade (PDA Arena Sdn Bhd - pdarena). This shop not honest enough. I feel like chitted by them.

Cheer....
I am a regular at PDA Arena Subang Parade.

I am sorry to hear that you feel that you have been cheated by them.

They have many satisfied return Customers who have been doing business with them, myself included.

It would help if you could elaborate on how they cheated you.
Before I bought 260W, I was looking for 255W with Junction View. When I ask the people at the shop, they said 255W is old model and also got problem with the voice (I don't have knowledge about Garmin GPS during that time). That why they recommand me to go for 260W.
Bro when did this happen? When did you buy the 260W?
------
I bought 260w somewhere on april 2009. But since bought it already, doesn't matter. I am now update to local firmware now my 260w have junction view feature already.

btw, may i know lane assist available for 255w?

In that case, the shop may be right cos Junction View on the local version of the Garmin 255 was introduced only recently and if I'm not mistaken in June 2009. The earlier version does not have Junction View. Since you asked for Junction View and that is why he may have recommended 260W to you.

Cheers

From what I read in MSM forum, MSM 2009.5 does not have lane assist but possibly MSM 2009.7 or later might have it. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be available in the near future.

I'm actually rooting for MFM to have Lane Assist as I like the look of MFM maps as it contains more POIs with actual logos (i.e. petrol station logos of Shell, Petronas, BHP and etc.). It provides a better map platform to get your bearings right in an unfamiliar area. To all the mappers who made this possible, my heartfelt appreciation to you all. :prayer: =D>
