That is one issue that bugs me. I wonder if we should standardise our naming to one largely accepted convention - if there is any at all.

How about following GE's naming convention? Or is there a beter one that is easily accessible and referenced by our mappers that does not infringe any copyright laws?

According to Wikipedia, Insight Map, and NuMap ... three of them using "Ko" instead of "Koh".

For road category I use,

1 digit and 2 digit road => Major Highway
3 digit road => Principal Highway
4 digit road => Arterial Road

For road name that I use (double confirm with bro Hornet and my Bangkok friend),

xxx road / street => Thanon xxx
xxx road 5st alley / sideroad (lorong) => xxx Soi 5
xxx 2 road 5st alley / sideroad (lorong) => xxx 2 Soi 5

I think we better not use Major Highway for anything other than Motorways and Expressways in the Bangkok areas. Only the motorways and expressways are true "Motorway" class (no traffic light at grade level; no u-turns; access only by ramps and exits) like the E-roads in Malaysia.

Are you suggesting that we use "Principal Highway" for 1 digit and 2 digit route as well? :-?

Guess so. 4-digit roads probably use Other Highway. Arterial roads (and collector roads) are usually metro-area only.
