not sure if this is true but my 205w cannot view poi. is it correct?

Yes, as what you read previously, US version will not show POI in navigation mode, but Malaysia or Taiwan version will show POI in navigation mode.

Note: I can't find Taiwan selling Nuvi205. Again Taiwan Garmin nuvi is running 4D graphic already...

how do i know the unit i have is taiwan or us make?

I think you can find it printed on the body of that unit. :mrgreen:

Yes :D , the unit below has one label "Design in USA, Made in Taiwan". Confirm most of the Garmin unit is made in Taiwan. But the software version has different like Taiwan version, US version, Mal/Sin version, indonesia version....etc :mrgreen: just for your information.

mine states "design in us and make in taiwan". but i cannot view POI when i drive. anybody can help me out?

Maybe ...i would say is not Taiwan version, it is Asian Version, I can not find Taiwan selling 205series, they have 255series only...sharing 255series firmware in 205series is not possible, because there is some features different..

all my Garmin here MADE IN TAIWAN

Hi
Am new to ths forum. Bought 205w with teleatlas map. Loaded MSM [free version] on Sd card n it work beautifully.
Loaded on another sd card the MFM and it also been working.
last week i inserted back the msm map and the screen goes blank after initialising loading jerome map.
no problem using the mfm map at the moment.
reload msm on another sd but still blank.

anyone can help?

Glad to hear that MFM works well in your 205W. :thumbsup:
As for MSM blanked, maybe you can try uninstall the MSM map from your PC and re-install back and copy again to your sd card. If still cannot, maybe post at MSM to ask Sifu there. :-k

Yesterday I asked the price of 205W in low yat...1200rm!!! I bought mine in Perfect Watch for 811rm, after gst refund.
