i m new to 5800.. my wife just bought one unit with map loaded.
Is there any discussion thread about how to update the map on 5800?

i have the Nuvi but i'm not too sure if the method is the same. I also want to load in the custom POI if it can load in.

If the navigation software installed is Garmin Mobile XT, the method is similar to a Nuvi (also pls read up on this topic: MFM Map Installation Step by Step Guide). As for detailed IMG map naming, GMXT data card can recognize GMAPSUPP.IMG, GMAPPROM.IMG and GMAPSUP2.IMG.

Also similarly like Nuvi, GMXT can support Custom POIs too. Get the latest compiled Custom POIs installer from this link: Free Malaysia Garmin Custom POI: MFM-CPOI v2.04 (27/08/09)

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic gets a Firmware update to version 31.0.008
This software release comes with a new version of Ovi Maps, which offers improved maps and enhanced pedestrian and drive navigation. Additionally, the software release includes several performance improvements.

In order to check for your phone firmware version, simply head to the main menu by pushing the middle button on your phone.

Next, tap on Settings (this has the spanner icon) and then choose Phone and scroll down to find the Phone Management utility. Tap on this and choose Device Updates. The page that appears will tell you the latest software version for your Nokia 5800.

Previous firmware version
30.0.011
21.0.025
20.0.015
11.0.008
10.0.010

Got my new Nokia 5800 couple days back. I have a problem transfering my fav locations to 5800 (SymbianS603rdEdition_50050) from mapsource (6.15.6).
Have no problem between my HTC Diamond 2(WindowsMobile_50020w)
Each time I do the transfer, nothing happens at 5800 but on mapsource, transfer is completed.
Searched but not able to find a solution to problem.
Have tried copying the file GARMIN_WPT.NVM and CURRENT.GPX directly but no avail.
Any sugguestion?
