Hi all... i'm new to this forum and was amazed by the wonderful contributions in here.

I'm currently using Marbella 550 GPS... was wondering if it can use MFM?

I followed the instructions to install the software and den downloaded the maps & all the img files into my "MAP" folder in the SD card... but my GPS hanged when loading...

Anyone can offer some help here?

Thankz!
Muzik

Although most of you are non-Garmin/non-Papago users, please give feedback so we will know what works and what doesn't. Also, you can find lots of guides and tips in our 'Library'.
:welcome:

Bro Zamad,

Can you please give some advice to newbies like me who opted for Papago platform instead of Garmin on how to contribute POIs and tracklogs? There's this tracklog function in the R5800 which I'm not sure how we can use it to contribute to the map building effort.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Tq :)

The R5800 is capable of tracking at 1-second intervals. Here is how you access the function (screenCaps attached):

To start tracking: Advance Settings >> Track Log >> New
To stop tracking: Advance Settings >> Track Log >> Stop
To view saved tracks: Advance Settings >> Track Log >> Track Log List. If you click the 'kml' button, the file will be converted to a kml file, which is accessible using Google Earth.

I suggest that you read these two threads by bro 76gpsguy ( :prayer: ):
"How to Manage Papago POIs with MapSource (23/8/2009)" here, and "Papago X2/X3 Tracklog Converter" here.

Once your files have been converted from binary to gpx (or gdb) format, you can then send them to the mapper(s) for compilation.

Have fun 'discovering' your new toy. Cheers! :peace:

Greetings, Earthlings..

Just got myself a HU with built in GPS. (local one la ofcoz). The default GPS map that was in the SD card given to me was Papago IGO8 (i think, dunno since this is my 2nd encounter with GPS, the 1st one is my friend's Garmin).

I read the manual, and it says

"Communication of GPS module of this system is com2, bit rate 9600bps and resolution is 800X480), These parameters shall be taken into consideration in configuring map software"

I've tried the GPS yesterday, yes it can show me some of the places that i want to go... but there are some cases whereby I can't insert the specific road i.e. Jln SS6/3 coz it is like automatic, after i key-ed in "S S 6 /" than no "3" doesnt appear in my touch panel... only certain number only..

Like i mention, I've tried my friend's Garmin once, and i can key-in any road name or place and it will show the result.

Would appreciate very much any guidance given. Should I use the pre-installed software, or can i change it.
