There is one thing that I like Garmin to at least incorporate into this device in their firmware upgrade.... If the local distributors on both side of the straits are listening.

The ability to transfer one (just one) planned route from Mapsource to the device.

There are times that we planned a route and wish to send it to the device, rather than have the device planned a long distance route for us.

The answer is actually NO.

Features (which includes Ecoroute) in Garmin comes with the unit at the point of release for the region for which the unit is intended to be sold. I believe Ecoroute comes with US version units. If your unit does not come with that feature, you cannot install that feature on top of what you have unless Garmin allows it. So far I do not believe Garmin has made Ecoroute separately available for installation.

You can however have Ecoroute by flashing your unit's firmware to a US version or any other regional version that comes with Ecoroute. This process and its perils is well documented here.

I bought TW 255w then flashed to MySin... found out dun have ecoroute and limited voices, then flash to US. Update all voices from WebUpdater and works great, but no chinese input. I can live with it until our map has chinese POI.

Now flash back to TW version. Old voices (US) not compatible and cause it to shut down during startup. So my 255w do not have a voice. Run webupdater, surprised that no voices listed for download. :frus: :frus:

Is there a way to make webupdater to download all voices again? :-?

For Asian version of Garmin GPS, which include Sing/Mal, TW, India, etc... currently only Nuvi 765 and Nuvi 1460 are ecoRoute supported.
