Really, those of you who missed it, aren't missing much. MFM has most places covered.

I think that's one of the reason why this map is a bit elusive, and require 30 buck, or special release to MFM members. Once people know its not really necessary (unless you're a Bangladeshi postman just posted to Singapore) they will not buy it.
All of my searching on maps are non postal code base anyway, its best to have human readable name.., iust like ip address who the heck can remember those.

I feel sad that Antyong retired - Mapping Community should not be taken advantage off...use http://www.waze.com it's payback time
Re: SLA-Garmin map
Ahh... But I'm not saying it's useless, either. As you have mentioned, your searches tend to be non-postal code strings. I have, since the early days of postal codes implementation by Jerome and MSM, and more recently MFM(in relative terms, of course) always asked for postal codes first whenever posed the question, "You know how to get here, right?" Much to the bewilderment of some.
So it's a niche data-layer per se.

I would say postal code searchability is not the core to GPSing, but it is a complement factor to have full postal code database/data layer for those occasional incidents that you need it.
Example: Recently, I have to send a foreign colleague who is here for a short duration back to his company's local rented private unit. Although he has given me the block/estate house number, I can't find it in MFM map nor any other maps. In the end, luckily he has the postal code with him and I finally managed to locate the place with postal code.
This is just one occasion that I needed to use postal code. In my experience with various maps, none has good coverage of private estates and with private estates growing in percentage of overall Singapore's housing, it is inevitable that the SLA postal code data layer would come in handy.
If one has plenty of relatives, friends and acquaintances staying in private estate, one would know the pain it is to search for those address without the SLA postal code/address data layer.

Re: SLA-Garmin map
The Singapore post code is unique to its address. Most Malaysians do not know this. Hence, Post Code search is a useful option if your host cannot provide the correct spelling of their address... It's a handy tool to have and certainly worth the price if you need it. That's why there are so many members asking to combine the free SLA maps to access this useful Data. But, most chose the conventional way of approach whereas the tools to make this happen is freely available.... Knowledge is power... how true!... Cheers!

Re: SLA-Garmin map
Very well said. To me, the postal code is the most useful function added to our Singapore map. I can now find a building via the postal code, even if the building itself is not in the map!

You're rite, knowledge is power.
In fact, my 255W was changed to local firmware and used it with JV map. But now changed back to US version. If I ready want the map, I dont need to request.
