Just updating my 255w with software v2.70 from my v2.50
prev problematic vpm was deleted prior to this update
to my horror these 3 files
(1) English_American_Jack.vpm;
(2) English_Australian_Karen.vpm;
(3) English_British_Daniel.vpm.
being copied again during update
to save guard, i move it to my backup folder on my laptop
is there any problem if i did not do that?
255W retired, 3560 current
64s and old Nuvi 350

When you update the firmware/software, the newer voice files will be expanded and placed in the voice folder. V2.70 does contain those newer voice files.

Dear sifus...how do I know if I have a localized, Taiwan, US etc Gamin Nuvi 760? Sorry, if this question has been asked, but I can't seem to find.

This is what I have been able to gather on HWID. Please add or correct as necessary:

0827 - US
0930 - Singapore/Malaysia
0932 - Taiwan
0933 - Japan
0939 - Thailand

Can someone post how to get the HWID from the unit. Thanks Bro Moeyhc I dont remember the file name.

To see the HWID open the GarminDevice.xml file in your Nuvi Garmin folder using any Internet browser.
Find these text - usually at the start of the listing.


<Model>
<PartNumber>006-B0932-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>260</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>nüvi 205W</Description>
</Model>

The B0932 number listed at the PartNumber is the HWID, in this case it is 0932 for the Taiwan Nuvi 205W.
