How to install Garmin MapSource for the First Time

Dearest SIFU,

I downloaded by MapSource_6137.exe or http://www8.garmin.com/software/MapSource_6137.exe and after downloading it, as usual I will double click on the exe file and try to run it, and ACCEPTed the Agreement, a warning dialog appears and it says " PREVIOUS Mapsource not Installed". Cannot continue setup something like that . WHat is happening ? I know I just bought my 1370T in Low Yatt Plaza Bukit Bintang last week, and initially it only have MALFREEMAPS of v1.65 only in there and some funny Taiwan maps (6 layers address) etc.

Please help si-fu san. If I cannot use the mapsoure.exe, can i just cut and paste the gmaspsup.img file (IMG extension) to the GARMIN folder in my GARMIN Device ???

Yes, you can copy and paste the gmapsupp.file to your garmin folder, this will supersed the old file.

Yep, i followed all the steps i tried before, but I believe it has somthing to do with my WINZIP application. The MFM maps downloaded apparently in ZIP files, so I need to UNZIP them as usual. And these are the error messages during the UNZIP ping process :

" Internal error processing iso image "

And the WINZIP application just terminates itself. DO I need a more powerful UNZIP software or maybe buy the original ones. I downloaded these files from CNET DOwnload, so i believe the WINZIP is of good quality (45 days free trial).

I had been using Mapsoource 6.13.6 and had used the followings :
1) My-Sin ver 2.27
2) MFM 091012

Upgraded to 6.15.7, however when the application opens, it gave the following message
"There is a problem with the My-Sin installation. Please re-install Mapsource and start MapSource again"

Un-installed Mapsource and re-installed the prorgram, but still gave me the same message.
I read a post somewhere, it has to do with "cleaning the mapsource registery".

I've used CCleaner to remove the mapsource registry, still gave me the same result.
Can anyone advise in details how to do it ??

OK, try this. Start > Run > (type) regedit (to start Registry Editor).
In Registry Editor, select File > Import > select "mapsource.reg" > Open. Then install Mapsource.
