Unless there is a reason, I would prefer the 2nd link as less traffic ( avoid Saturday night dinner/shopping crowd ) and also smoother drive as it is mostly highway.

That appears to be a better option to take... SB... will have this considered on the Sunday return from Melacca.

Guys goin back SG from Johor Bahru..
Do take note of beating the red light @ junction before CIQ checkpoint, on the way back to SG. Read here.
I kena on 5th Dec, its a 50%/50%, but tough luck being the last car.. RM $50

The traffic is still managable..

Next after me, 3 other cars caught 2 JHR plate and 1 SG plate..
Causing a jam in the lane, and disrupting their trap.. (No cars got hold over after that)..
But all 3 cars drove off within minutes..
I'm still in the middle of sorting with the officer (TP aka Traffic Police),

1st TP ask for my driving license.. then TP claim I beat the redlight, I deny that I did not. TP insist that I'm the last car to cross the junction. TP say his HQ will fine RM$300 for such offence..
I claim I dun have RM$300 with me, what to do?
Even you give me the fine now, I will not return to CIQ to clear the fine, for this is my last trip. (TP walk over to look @ my SG Road Tax decal.)

Then TP came back, he finally say these (Golden words)..
"Okie, I help you, You help me". " You happy, I happy"
At 1st he demand RM$100, I decline, I claim I have $RM50.. Finally TP give in..
Pay $RM50 and no fine will be given..
Slip dollar in under my license and pass over..
Around 15mins, settlement under the table, I drove off..

[Btw is the Malaysian law for offering bribe to officer 1st, the officer can still claim his reward, by prosecuting you] I read this in car forum.. Which is why I din do so in the 1st place, still beating the bushes for 15 mins...

Yes, and the trick to safeguard yr ar$e is to not commit yourself, either in gesture or suggestion but let the TP do the spilling on his own accord. The other extra safety option is "always carry a Olympus (Sony or Panasonic oso can la... if U R shareholder of Sony or Pana... )" memocorder and activate it immediately in LP (long play) and in full volume but not to be seen by officer. You then have proof la... should the crafty & devious corrupt TP attempts further to screw your ball$... or so he thought...heheh...

I carry mine along always... I can smell a fox showing up when the scene is familiar... yes, I have a nose too for crooked & corrupted guys within proximity....

That tangkak is a must for you to pass by in order to exit malacca at ayer keroh and also when coming back, ambush is always somewhere near the exit to the 2nd link.... , do look out for the solo also, encounter once before, a bulis car driver by a buliman, shaking whole body when demand kopi $$$ along the highway, you can choose to ignore them, but if they SOS thru their radio, i think, you will lost more than RM50.00.....
