Hi all,

After updating at garmin website - garmin connect/ dash
now when powering up - it's a lot slower than before. is there anyway that I can flash back the old firmware?
mine is localised 765 - using 2.3 something

BTW, can you give details how it's slowed down?

Basic rule for software updates.
Full Data Reset after the update.

1) Backup your data, by, copying nuvi:\Garmin\GPX\current.gpx into your PC.

2) Switch off your nuvi

3) Tap and HOLD bottom right of the screen, and switch on the nuvi

4) When a confirmation dialog appeared, press Yes, and start configuring your nuvi back.

5) You can copy back the current.gpx to nuvi:\Garmin\GPX directory

Good Luck.

thanks for the shutdown tip.
now it takes about 20secs. thanks. but still it's kinda of slow compare to b4.

when switching on - first the garmin screen, then map loading(takes 20 over seconds) then comes to the WARNING screen.

the map loading used to be fast.

is there anyway/tips to bootup faster?
less voice? less pics? less vehicles?

The bulk of the bootup time is taken up by the maps loading into memory. The bigger the map, the longer the bootup time :(

My Taiwan born Nuvi came with Garmin NT Mainland China and Taiwan map. Each is 830M and 300M respectively in size. Got fed-up with the long load time, so removed it. Now

If you uncheck the big maps (Japan, US, China, ...) in Map Info, does the nuvi starts faster?

In my nuvi I have
1) MFM 80 MB
2) EM+WM Topo, 200MB
3) Garmin USA CNT : 1.1GB

Booting time, is about 8-15 seconds. I think it is still acceptable.

Thank you.

Correct me if I am wrong, my analogy is that whether it is "check" or "uncheck", the maps still load into RAM. The firmware ignores it for navigation. I experience improve "boot-up" time and screen refresh rate when the unused large maps were removed.
