Based on their file sizes, GMAPPROM1.IMG seems like MSM NT, while GMAPSUPP.IMG seems like MFM. So the locked map must be GMAPPROM.IMG, but not sure which map is this. The size is too small for a US map, older version of City Navigator Sing/Mal, maybe? Anyway, after removing GMAPPROM.IMG, there should be no more "can't unlock map" message.

As advised earlier by bros here, remove and back up, don't just simply delete. Alternatively, you can just rename the IMG file with an unrecognized IMG file name such as GMAPPROMx.IMG (without actually removing the file).

Operating Garmin Nuvi 255W SG/MY version with:
- SW 2.80

Agree, GMapTool is one of the conclusive method to check on IMG files, no more guessing which is which.

thx everyone for teaching me a way on how to identify the right map to delete........it was MSM dat's showing 'can't unlock map' error.......however, the MSM JCV map is working but not really updated....sux map, i'd rather use MFM. :lol:
