Re: How to update the latest MFM-Papago map into Papago R5800?
Hi everyone,
I would like to ask, after i downloaded the latest map for my R5800. I click it to install in my PC rather in my Papago device, then how could i put them in my papago? Is it copy from my PC and replace the content in my Papago?
Thanks in advance for any reply.

Bro chindian, i have read this link before, the pictutorial guide is on installation straight to the R5800. How to install, if the files already extracted into PC is not clearly mentioned. For example, what if i copy the 27 files from my friend's pc into my pendrive. Then only i bring back my pendrive to my house to install into my R5800. Is it i just copy and paste the 27 files into my R5800?

I manage to update the map by doing copy and paste method. But i lose all my history, is this a norm?
Re: How to update the latest MFM-Papago map into Papago R5800?
The 27 files (or map updates) are in the Navi\Maps\XXXX folder (where XXXX are unique folder names, and you can have many of those). If you have copied the 27 files correctly, just dump them in the XXXX folder. Then select your 'new' map through the 'Advanced Setting' menu.
The 'history' (maybe you meant 'Favorites') are stored in the Navi\Save folder. I think they are named PPGPOI17.DAT. Normally when updating maps, these are always intact because they are in a separate folder. If however, you updated the software (as in X5 SE), everything including the 'Save' folder gets overwritten and you lose your 'history'. Remember to always make backups especially before updating the software.
Cheers.

Re: How to update the latest MFM-Papago map into Papago R5800?
Hello all, I'm a newbie to this Papago. I'm using a non-branded PND
Windows CE 6.0 with various navigation softwares. Since I like papago
very much, I just removed others. Everything works well. When I'm
trying to update to the latest map as instructed to a new folder
(co-exist with the older maps), there is no new map in the the maps
selection menu. I'm trying to replace all files in the old folder with
new files, the papago just shows only a splash screen. Any ways to
make it run.
Thanks in advance to all sifus for sharing the knowledge,
efforts and maps......

Updating the maps doesn't affect the history and favourites. The history and favourites will be lost if you update the new software only.
However, you can backup the Save folder and transfer back to Navi folder after the software updates. But you need to delete the sys.cfg that located in the Save folder as well..
