How many maps can I add to my Garmin devices?

If you are asking about the Papago R5800, then it is in the wrong thread! This is the 'Garmin' thread. Having said that, you can put as many maps as you like, provided that they are in seperate folders under \Maps. Each folder would have 27 files.

Just wondering how to i put in more map into my 5800? Is it limited to only 2 maps?

Bro Zamad, I think he meant for his GMXT Symbian S60 in his Nokia5800.

Bro Minthiam, use GMapTool to combine maps, so that 1 x GMAPSUPP.IMG (or GMAPPROM.IMG or GMAPSUP2.IMG) can contain more than 1 mapset. Please search the forum for its usage.

You combine unlimited number of maps into a Garmin-recognizable map file. The limit is your storage capacity. Garmin recognizes different map file names depending on models.

Garmin Nuvi 200, 600 & 700 series + nuvifone G60
Internal memory (the device itself) - gmapoem.img, gmapprom.img, gmapprom1.img, gmapsupp.img
SD or microSD card - gmapsupp.img

Garmin Nuvi 300 series
gmapoem.img, gmapprom.img, gmapprom1.img, gmapsupp.img

GPSMAP 60 & 76 series, Colorado & Oregon
gmapsupp.img

Garmin Que
gmapsupp.img

Garmin MobileXT
gmapsupp.img, gmapsup2.img

Bought a garmin 255w fm eastgear at the IT show at Expo Spore last week. Come with the usual mfm / malsin and sla maps.
however when i transferred the sd card [which i used on my 205w without problem], the mfm map doesnt show on the map info menu on the 255w !

anyone can advise?

If Nuvi is already installed with MFM map in internal memory, remove that one first before using another MFM map version in SD card.

A Garmin device with internal memory would at least support GMAPSUPP.IMG and GMAPPROM.IMG. You can also try whether it supports GMAPPROM1.IMG as well. And if it accepts a data card, that's another GMAPSUPP.IMG supported in the card.

tks for the advice. shall try it once i hve the gps charged up. Only use the gps when travelling to malaysia. Found the mfm map more up to date and comprehensive!
