Strange, for a smartphone, the A50 appears not to support video recording. I guess the user would have to get a 3rd-party app thru the Marketplace.

I assume the navigation will have TTS since the existing nuvifones have it too.

But what have these got to do with Garmin-Asus? The way you wrote, the A50 is not an Android phone, and the HTC phones are. In fact the A50's interface is closer to Google's idea of Android UI whereas HTC have customised (and some say improved on) the UI on their Android phones.

I think you mean to say

Think it does support.

From the official specs...
Video Playback: MPEG4 / H.264 / H.263 / WMV
Video Recording: MPEG4 & H.263 with audio via AMR-NB

Looks like this phone is going down the "exclusive" route. Probably will take a L-O-N-G time before it will reach this part of the world. 2011? 2012? zzzzzzz

MWC: Garmin-Asus strike deal with O2 Germany for Nuvifone

Telefónica O2 Germany will start to exclusively sell the Android-based Nüvifone A50 from Garmin-Asus in Germany in May 2010.

"The nüvifone A50 is another little navigation wonder we are including in our portfolio", René Schuster, CEO of Telefónica O2 Germany, comments. "We thus continue to maintain our strategy of offering innovative high-end devices at affordable prices and fair tariffs."

O2 will offer the Nüvifone A50 with free choice of various monthly subscriptions.

This deal is a serious move forward for Garmin which started to sell a first generation of Nüvifone last year with little success. With the Nüvifone A50 Garmin is surfing on the Android wave started by HTC and Motorola and offering a packaged navigation solution. The device is good looking and offers all the normal features of an Android handset plus indoor location based on Cell-ID and Wi-Fi positioning. The GPS chipset is from Qualcomm.

At this stage it is unknown if Telefónica signed a larger deal with Garmin that could include more territories, Garmin did not offer comment on that particular point.
