Bro, What model of Garmin Bluetooth GPS receiver are you using? Is your car Windows tinted with metallic tint like VKool? I have use a 10x and it is real slow and almost impossible in a Vkool tinted car... hope this helps.

GMXT on N95 slow in acquiring signal? Solution is here....

Postby SuperBaby » Sat Nov 15, 2008 3:37 am

I have heard many times that some N95 users have to wait for more than 5 minutes to get GPS signal even when they have turned on Assisted-GPS. Here is the solution and explanation...

A-GPS such as the built-in GPS of N95 requires internet connection for satellite positioning information. Internet connection is required only during the start-up and the data transfer is only 1~2Kb. If you restart GMXT in short intervals, no new download is carried out.

The first time you use GMXT, you will be asked whether to allow internet connection. Select "YES". Once you have made the selection, the prompt will not appear again until you switch to an oversea SIM card (not sure if it will reappear if you switch to another local SIM card of different telco). So if you select "NO" and later decide to change to "YES", there is no way to get back this prompt. There is no such provision under the Settings.

To overcome this problem, switch to an oversea SIM card and turn on GMXT. The prompt will show up again. Select "YES". Then change back to your local SIM card and restart GMXT. Again, the prompt will show up again. This time, select "YES".

If you select "NO", you still can get signal.... after 3 ~ 5 minutes if you are lucky.

I using assisted nokia GPS and my car is V kool tinted. I usually get a lock before i start my journey but in car, it oftens lose connection then lock again (this will go on and on). I also notice that if we want a fast lock on satelites, we need to stop e car + open the windows.
