I have heard many times that some N95 users have to wait for more than 5 minutes to get GPS signal even when they have turned on Assisted-GPS. Here is the solution and explanation...
A-GPS such as the built-in GPS of N95 requires internet connection for satellite positioning information. Internet connection is required only during the start-up and the data transfer is only 1~2Kb. If you restart GMXT in short intervals, no new download is carried out.
The first time you use GMXT, you will be asked whether to allow internet connection. Select "YES". Once you have made the selection, the prompt will not appear again until you switch to an oversea SIM card (not sure if it will reappear if you switch to another local SIM card of different telco). So if you select "NO" and later decide to change to "YES", there is no way to get back this prompt. There is no such provision under the Settings.
To overcome this problem, switch to an oversea SIM card and turn on GMXT. The prompt will show up again. Select "YES". Then change back to your local SIM card and restart GMXT. Again, the prompt will show up again. This time, select "YES".
If you select "NO", you still can get signal.... after 3 ~ 5 minutes if you are lucky.
