Initial lock on Nokia maps is fast only because it uses data to accelerate the process. If you enable AGPS on your Nokia, initial lock will also be very fast.

As for GMXT lagging on smart phones, I think it depends on the GMXT version and the phone internal memory. I have no trouble running GMXT 4.10.60s60.9 using the latest full version of MFM map on my N95 8GB. So far, no lag.

You probably need some licence from Nokia to do their maps.

When this MFM map prompts you to exit to take the expressway, it does not say which direction e.g CTE (North) or CTE (South). This may be a problem if the two exits are immediately one after the other. I recall that for other maps including MSM, it will say CTE (N) or CTE(S). I think this info is useful to show.

  2. razuryza: add bus stop POIs - KIV
  3. pgkent: standardization of naming - Done. It is one of our ongoing activities
  4. tommyaw: POIs for frequent accident areas - Done. Thanks to bro Stratman2's cPOI
  5. smallville: Labels for custom POI icons - Done
  6. sharkteef: Rating for food POIs - We decided not to rate 1-5. Instead, we use (*) or (1X) for recommended outlets
  7. doraemon: standardize naming of rest areas - Not done yet
  8. wanderer: do not use abbreviations - Done
  9. pgkent: re-categorize convenience stores - Not possible. Garmin controls POI categories

  11. keong8260: MFM to be like yellowpages - KIV
  12. indrapr: include SG map - Done
  13. tuah: compile guides & how-to - Done. MFM has a growing Library forum
  14. apisfires: cooperation with other mapping communities - Done. Navigasi.net has given MFM permission to release their maps. There is also a lot of sharing of ideas and info
  15. hitokiri: add an "Untracked areas" topic for each map tile - Done but maintaining it requires local knowledge of the area and active members to help out
  16. uncle wong: MFM club - Not yet but we have had several great GGs and MFM party van is going places
  17. rogersk8ter: forum to share trip experience & info - Done
  18. zeese5 & fauzee: better naming for govt depts - No standard or guideline on this yet
  19. mightyboo: support new features like JV,LA,etc - MFM-Papago supports these features. We have much more JVs than Garmin-CN/Garmin-MSM.
  20. alihms: toll charge calculation for routes - No. Asking too much ;)
  21. simseair: km marker for expressways - NSE has 5km markers. Need contributors for other expressways
  22. yc1437: standardize the turn announcement distance & timing - sometimes the junction in the map may be further away from actual. Please feedback any junction you want to improve
  23. cstanpj: POI for Commissioners for Oaths - We need the data. Please contribute
  24. exz8: quick forum reply - Normal forum reply is just fine and is as quick
  25. ccwong: request for Papago - Papago software development is the responsibility of the licensee/distributor. Your suggestion should be to your Papago principals
  26. jans_wkh: option to select WM or EM or SG on MFM gmapsupp generator - The Garmin global index is difficult to break up. Use Mapsource if you prefer certain regions only
  27. Skylinestar: developing nokia maps - Map development needs tools and cooperation from the software maker. MFM does not give away our map data to other parties.
  28. fauzee: MFM ID card - No. MFM is not a legal entity + we cannot afford to bear with the consequences of misuse.

Thanks for all your suggestions and to the members who helped make the solutions possible :prayer: :prayer:
